Warm, playful tutoring through the primary years
Not every child needs to be preparing for an exam to benefit from a little extra time. For children across the primary years, I offer gentle one-to-one tutoring in English and maths — filling gaps, steadying confidence and keeping learning something to enjoy.
I've worked within a primary classroom alongside children of every kind — those who race ahead, those who find learning harder, and those for whom English is still new. That range taught me to meet a child exactly where they are, rather than where a syllabus assumes they should be.
With younger children especially, I like to make ideas more tangible through play, and to have a child verbalise their thought processes aloud, to embed new concepts more securely and build longer-lasting knowledge. When a child has fallen a little behind, it often takes a quiet toll on their confidence — so we pitch each lesson at just the right level of challenge, and let confidence grow hand in hand with progress.
What tutoring looks like
- One-to-one English and maths across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2
- Gentle diagnosis of where the gaps really are, then a plan to close them
- Learning through play, story and talking ideas through aloud
- A short note after each lesson so you always know how it's going
